Recommended System Requirements for Avocent University Geo5 Learning System

The learning system uses Java, Flash and your web browser to accomplish course launching, tracking and scoring. If you are experiencing learning system problems, such as course launching or scoring issues, please change your system settings as indicated here.

Software Requirements

1. Browser - Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher versions
2. Java -   Sun JRE 1.5.0_11 - 1.6.0_04   
3. Flash Player - Macromedia Flash Player 8 or Adobe Flash Player 9

Internet Explorer Settings

Pop-Up Blockers
Disable any popup blockers as they might prevent a course from launching. 

Java Settings
Java settings control course bookmarking and test scoring. The computer must have either Microsoft VM or Java (Sun); the courses will not work if both are enabled.

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Select Tools - Internet Options.
3. Select the Advanced tab.
4. Locate the Multimedia heading  - above Multimedia, locate Microsoft VM or Java (SUN).
5. For Microsoft VM.
   • Make sure all boxes under Microsoft VM are unchecked.
6. If Java (Sun) is directly above Microsoft VM, make sure it is checked and make sure that you have Version 5 update 11 – Version 6 Update 3 of Java.
7. Select OK.
8. To check for multiple versions of java:
   • Select Start – Settings – Control Panel.
   • Select  Add or Remove Programs.
   • If you see both J2se and Java runtime or any multiple Java environments, remove all and reinstall Java.
     
     

Clear Browser Cookies and Cache
If you are receiving a login error when accessing the learning system, clear browser cookies and cache

Internet Explorer 6

1. Select Tools -  Internet Options.
2. Select  Delete Cookies,  and then select Delete Files.
3. Select OK.

Internet Explorer 7

1. Select Tools - Internet Options.
2. Under the Delete browsing history, select Delete.
3. Select Delete Cookies and Files.
4. Select Close.
5. Select OK.
